Nations

Powell River is home to 3 nations which are respected greatly, known as the Skwxwu7mesh Nations, Sliammon nation, and the Tla'amin First Nations. They are known for their music, religion, and carvings.
Powell river has several nations who played their toll in the community for a long time.
For example: The Tla'amin nation just got permission to hold their own government for their community after years and years of protesting. They have their own page on all the things they do:http://www.tlaaminnation.com/

All the nations are popular for their history, stories, carvings, dances, and events. Their religion is respected in Powell River (judging that they were the first people here). They are in the Blackberry festival and the Seafair parade (the 2 biggest events in Powell River) and their arts and culture is permanently embedded in the land here. They are in the schools and what people like best about them, is that they don't shove it down the communities thoughts (no offence Jehovah Witnesses) like the Christians. The Nations tell beautiful stories for entertainment and have magnificent history. the information is past down for generations, one thing the rest of the world probably wont do again.
