Powell River has made the Guinness World Records for 'The cleanest air in the world.'
Powell River made a paper mill 100 years ago which people complained (and still do) that it smelled bad, but somehow they managed to have the least polluted air.

Fact: 2
The Patrica Theater in Powell River made in 1913 stands as 'The oldest operating movie theater in Canada. The building used to be used for plays and shows, now is used for, well, a movie theater. If you go in, the building still looks the same from 100 years ago, from the old paintings on the walls, to the old piano at the front.

Fact: 3
The year 2016 was to hold 'The first logger sports since 11 years ago.' People were excited to hear that the old logger sports were back and it had a mind-blowing 20 000 people show over the weekend. The logger sports have crazy events, from climbing a really tall pole, to carving a bear out of a tree with a chainsaw.

Fact: 4
The very first Powell River paper on cranberry street started in 1927 known as 'The Town Crier' giving news to the town. They put news of new buildings and events and also pictures of the places.

Fact: 5
The Powell River 'Dwight Hall' was (and might still be known as) the largest community hall on the west coast. They hosted dances, balls, plays, concerts, special events, and exhibitions. The lower floor was a meeting place and a library. The Dwight Hall is still used for special events such as the Yearly Remembrance Day Event.

Fact: 6
Powell River is home to 3 nations which are respected greatly, known as the Skwxu7mesh Nations, First nations, and the Tla'amin First Nations. They are known for their music, religion, and carvings.


Fact: 7
Powell River used to be only the place now known as 'Townsite.' That is were the whole place started with cramped homes, schools and businesses. Back then you got your Milk, eggs, meat, vegetables, and papers delivered straight to your doorstep.

Fact: 8
Powell River played a huge roll in WWII for making places to stay and train for soldiers and civilians. Troops landed ashore at townsite from Comox, Vancouver B.C. in barges for training.
